Saudi Ambassador to Italy declares open the 2nd stop of "Saudi Arabia Crossroad of Civilizations"
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Italy, His Excellency Saleh bin Mohammad Al Ghamdi, on Last Saturday, declared open the 2nd stop of the Kingdom s exhibition, "Saudi Arabia Crossroad of Civilizations" at Charles V Castle in Lecce city, Italy.
The exhibition is organized by SCTA on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Ambassador Al Ghamdi considered the inauguration of the second phase of the exhibition in Lecce city after it being held for two months in Rome, as the enhancement and embodiment of the deep rooted relations between the two countries which were always very special, politically, economically and culturally.
Al Ghamdi explained that, the exhibition is held under the patronage of the Italian Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) and the Saudi Embassy to Italy. The exhibition is hosted by the Castello Carlo V (Charles V Castle) which dates back to 16th century in Lecce city.
The exhibition was opened first at the Vittoriano Museum in Rome on October 3, 2013, on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary of establishment of Saudi-Italian diplomatic relations, which was held from 1st to 5th October, 2013 in Rome. The expo lasted until November 30 in 2013.
It displays 150 precious relics highlighting the deep rooted history and culture of the Arabian Peninsula since the prehistory times and until the unification of the Kingdom by the founder King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud.
The exhibition in its first stop at the Vittoriano Museum in Rome, was declared open by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA along with the Mayor of Rome, HE Ignazio Marino, when it had witnessed a heavy turnout of visitors throughout its period reaching 100,000 visitors.
The exposition on the other hand asserts the strength of Saudi-Italian relations which dates back to 1932 and covers several areas, as Italy is one of the first countries that had established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia followed by opening of the Italian consulate in Jeddah in 1933, then the two countries had entered into an agreement of cooperation.
The exhibition also aims to highlight the roots of cultural communication between the Arabian Peninsula and Rome which dates back to some two thousand year since the Roman Empire.
Moreover, the exhibition aims to indicate that, the cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and Italy are not less importance than the economic relations, where scientific and cultural exchange between the two countries has seen remarkable progress and the exhibition, which displays 164 relics representing different parts of the Kingdom, is expected to play an outstanding role in the enhancement of cultural relations between the Kingdom and Italy and contribute to the broadening Italian people’s understanding of the reality of the Kingdom and its role in the entire human civilization.
This exhibition is a part of the Strengthening of Saudi Arabia’s Cultural Dimension Project, as well as an accomplishment of the "Saudi Archeological Masterpiece through the ages" exhibition, which is being hosted by some of the most prestigious museums in Europe and the United States of America. These expos, aim to promote the cultural dimension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to be attached to other attached to its other well-known dimensions, the religious, political and economic dimensions.
