SCTA President and Minister of Tourism of South Africa visit Janadriyah Festival
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism of South Africa, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, on Sunday, paid a visit to the 29th Al Janadriyah Cultural and Heritage Festival in the outskirt of Riyadh.
President of SCTA, escorted his eminent guest and the delegation accompanying him to the Janadriyah festival, and visited the traditional Souk where they met some artisans and acquainted with their traditional products.
Also during their tour in the festival they visited a number of heritage houses which represent several Saudi provinces such as the Makkah house, Al Madina house, Al Jouf house, and Al Baha house, where they viewed part of folklore shows in addition to ways of building mud and stone houses, before tasting several popular dishes.
In a press statement following their visit to the Festival,President of SCTA, Al Janadriyah Festival which was launched under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques long time ago, maintained the heritage and history of this country vividly. The Festival enables Saudi people, especially the youth, to closely recognize the importance of this heritage, and be acquainted with the foundation of the Kingdom and know how the people of Saudi Arabia created the blessed unification of the Kingdom.
President of SCTA, added that, Al Janadriyah Festival has changed the Minister of Tourism of South Africa’s impression towards the Kingdom, who had a pale impression about the Kingdom before, but after stopping only for few hours in the Janadriyah Festival and closely touching the heritage of Saudi provinces and meeting Saudi people, the old image bout the Kingdom has changed completely and faded away from his mind.
President of SCTA said he is always keen to visit the Janadriyah Festival. "It is a wonderful occasion allowing us to live our heritage in one place and meet the people who enjoy the culture of their country," he said.
On the pavilion of "Tourism and Heritage Oasis" of which the foundation stone was laid last Wednesday by Prince Met’ab bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, HRH President of SCTA said, “The pavilion will be a surprise for the visitors. It will be a distinguished pavilion in terms of using high and latest technologies and designs in showcasing of cultural heritage and urban heritage buildings and landmarks of different provinces of the Kingdom in an advanced and interactive manner.
"We hope it will meet the aspirations of the patron of this great festival, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques , we hope it will also be a distinct sequel to Al Janadriyah which is updated and upgraded annually," concluded.
For his part, the Minister of Tourism of South Africa, expressed his great admiration of Al Janadriyah Festival, saying that his visit to Al Janadriyah Festival has completely changed his views on the Kingdom, and made him closely get acquainted with its great culture and history.
