Spa development in Delhi to attract tourists
Almasalla Travel News – Located over 5.27 acres and surrounded by lush greens on three sides near the Garden of Five Senses in south Delhi, the new venture will have "world-class facilities."
In a bid to attract tourists and to help Delhiites rejuvenate after a hard day at work, the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Limited (DTTDC) will soon come up with a luxurious “wellness and recreational club.”
This wellness and recreational club would be akin to a spa based on traditional Indian medicine and alternative therapy such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, homeopathy, naturopathy, detox among others.
In addition to this, therapies and services such as acupressure, acupuncture, Reiki, lifestyle and stress management counseling, would also be provided at this club.
For this purpose, the corporation has issued a Request for Qualification (RFQ) asking firms to apply latest by June 24.
According to officials, this project would be executed through a Public Private Partnership on a revenue sharing model. The officials added that the need for such a wellness and recreational club was felt a long time back and is expected to boost tourism in the city.
"Chronic diseases and lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, heart diseases, respiratory diseases and obesity are rapidly affecting people over the past few years. Also, with increasing urbanization, higher incidence of stress-related disorders is being reported."
"This club would offer people a chance to come to a place which offers traditional Indian medicines and alternate therapies under the same roof," said a senior official.
"People across the world have shown a keen interest in traditional Indian medicine and alternative therapy. While the city has witnessed maximum arrival of tourists, the idea is to make them extend their stay and places like these will help us achieve that," added the official.
Once RFQs have been received, the corporation would then ask the short-listed companies to come up with a detailed proposal following which a final selection would be done.
"We are also planning to provide accommodation facilities to those who want to stay for a few days or so. We zeroed in on this location, as not only is it in the prime area of south Delhi, but at the same time it is secluded from mainstream noisy areas. Also, the fact that it is surrounded by a green belt on three sides ensures peace and serenity," added the official.
