Pharaohs re-used the Royal toAn archeological discovery for the tomb of thembs

The mission of the Dutch “Leaden” monuments museum operating at Saqqara, Giza, found a huge tomb that dates back to the era of King Akhnaton in the Pharaonic 19th Dynasty, around 3500 years ago and it belongs to “Mery-Nit” titled Chief of Staff of God “Aton”
An archeological source at the Dutch mission – who did not mention his name – stated that the mission also discovered the burial well of the tomb but it was empty from the mummy, in addition to a huge group of canopy containers with covers in scripted with names of four sons of God Horus.

He added that the mission found also a rare plate with a drawing of a lady holds a bouqet of roses and it clearly shows influence of Tall El-Amarna art that ancient Egyptian at El-Menia was famous for.

The source concluded that the mission found a rare Royal Cartouche for King “Sonesert 3rd” which confirms that the tomb was re-used in periods after its construction.

The Supreme Council for Antiquities prepared a detailed report on the discovery to be presented to Minister of Culture Farouq Hosny for allocating the financial funds required for completion of digging and restoration of the tomb and the discovered antiquities in preparation for placing it on the tourism map.
