Addressing the “Africa Celebrates 2024” forum in Addis Ababa, renowned African tourism figure Alain St.Ange underscored the need for clear, welcoming tourism practices to strengthen Africa’s tourism sector. St.Ange, emphasizing streamlined visa protocols, suggested integrating visa fees into airfares to avoid lengthy airport queues and foster a smoother travel experience.
As an advocate and board member of the Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum (ATCAF), set to be held in Nigeria this November, St.Ange highlighted the role of tourism in Africa’s economic resilience and climate action. “We are here celebrating our continent’s rich cultural heritage and addressing the critical climate challenges.
Through sustainable tourism, we can drive economic growth, create jobs, and foster cultural exchange,” he said. The upcoming ATCAF aims to empower African women and youth with skills in green industries such as waste recycling, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and creative digital fields.
St.Ange concluded by stressing the importance of collaborative efforts to build a resilient, climate-conscious Africa through sustainable tourism.
