Beijing Union University becomes a platform for the recruitment for foreign students for the Seychelles Tourism Academy
ATP- arab tourism portal- The Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) has signed for the first time a Memorandum of Understanding with a university in China, the Beijing Union University.
The agreement was signed by Anne Lafortune, the Principal Secretary of Tourism of the Seychelles and Lu Zhengyang President of Beijing Union University.
Anne Lafortune, Principal Secretary of Tourism, said the Memorandum of Understanding represents another stepping stone towards the training and development of the students.
“This Memorandum of Understanding which shall serve to contribute towards shaping the students, will allow them to be empowered with the right knowledge and skills in order to successfully and confidently enter the industry upon completion of their studies’’ Anne Lafortune said
Flavien Joubert, Principal of Seychelles Tourism Academ, said the agreement paves the way for Seychelles Tourism Academy to have a platform to recruit Chinese and foreign students.
“The Construction of Seychelles Tourism Academy is financed by a BADEA loan and the Seychelles Tourism Academy will have to pay back this loan. With the right marketing tool we can turn Seychelles Tourism Academy into a financially sound institution”. Flavien Joubert said
Beijing Union University is the first university in China offering a tourism management course. Besides tourism management, it also offers Chinese language, Chinese Cousine , Tourism and Management courses.
There are presently more than two hundred International students studying at Beijing Union University. The Tourism College of Beijing Union University is also an affiliated branch of Beijing Union University.
Chen Jie, Associated Professor in the Department of International Tourism, said the Tourism College “enjoyed a high quality study”, for both Chinese and foreign students.
Awaiting the first sign of cooperation to bare its fruit, Lu Zhengyang President of Beijing Union University, gave his blessing that the agreement “might in the near future help the development of tourism between Seychelles and China”.
