Qatar Airways said to be scaling back on flights to Adelaide

aTP-  Arab tourism portal News – Qatar Airways is reportedly scaling back its flights to and from Adelaide, reducing its daily service to five flights a week.

The airline launched daily A350 flights between Doha and Adelaide in May as part of plans to expand in Australia.

However, news website Australian Business Traveller reported on Monday that the airline intends to scrap flights from Adelaide to Doha on Wednesdays and Sundays, and from Doha to Adelaide on Tuesdays and Saturdays from October 30.

The reduced schedule is expected to remain in place until at least August 2017, it said.

The publication had previously reported on imminent changes to the Adelaide-Doha route, when Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker was quoted as saying that one flight per week would be suspended for 12 weeks.

At the time, Al Baker reportedly said the changes were “in order to cater for other destinations” due to a shortage of A350 aircraft in the airline’s fleet, as “Qatar Airways is very picky when it comes to quality” and had experienced delivery delays on several of its A350s.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways intends to bring its A380 onto Sydney-Doha flights from September 15.
