Al Mansouri: GCAA seeking to comply with national, international legislations

Almasalla, ATP News- DUBAI, (WAM) – The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), since its establishment in 1996, has sought to comply with the relevant national and international legislations and embrace the best international practices for airport licensing, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of GCAA, said on Sunday.

"These practices are aimed at elevating the efficiency of international airports. In order to ensure the highest level of safety for all airlines operating flights to international airports , no international airport may be used without the relevant licence," Al Mansouri said in a press release Licensing, he noted, is very important for attracting international airlines as the license constitutes a proof of compliance with aviation safety standards set by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and GCAA.

Al Mansouri emphasised that the UAE’s eight airports, which have good international reputation, represent the major gateways for connecting the UAE to other parts of the world.

"The UAE’s airports would not have achieved the advanced levels without their commitment and hard work towards meeting GCAA’s requirements for licensing international airports," added Al Mansouri noting that licensing is processed through six phases including approvals from the relevant authorities and the cabinet.
