JOUEL celebrates its 10th anniversary in style as the Seychelles jeweller  "par excellence"

Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News- JOUEL s first footprint in Seychelles was in 2004, with the opening of one small boutique at the international airport. Today, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary after its first opening, JOUEL has eight outlets in Seychelles.

The company celebrated its milestone in style last Friday evening at the Kenwyn House, where it displays an array of exquisite jewellery collections.

Gracing the event with his presence, Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange was given the honour to address those who were present.

Congratulating the managing director Rod Thorrington and his team, Minister St.Ange said this can be described as a job well done, and it shows that we have all been talking about the need to have upmarket shopping for some source market like the Chinese market.

“JOUEL has shown that we have the potential to do that. As we are now looking what our other trade partners need to develop to raise our shopping potentials to that level, we need to congratulate JOUEL, and we need to encourage other people to do like JOUEL in other avenues, where we can entice tourists looking for shopping that Seychelles has it,” Minister Alain St.Ange said.

Minister St.Ange added that JOUEL and its Kenwyn House are today known and our Tourism Board shall work with them to increase their visibility in order to ensure that they continue to attract our travellers that have the money to spend.

"JOUEL has something for everybody, it has what you are looking for that special person for a unique occasion. I will encourage people not to be scared by perception and to visit Kenwyn House", the Minister added.

Minister St.Ange said what Mr Thorrington and his team has done is exemplary, adding that the Seychelles Tourism Board will continue to support JOUEL as it is an asset to the country’s tourism industry.

Guests had the chance to view the company’s jewellery collections in a fashion show, whereby models paraded on the catwalk in a selection of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.

“We are very proud to have survived and succeeded for these 10 years. I am very proud of my team and for being part of Seychelles during a very transformational period,” Mr Rod Thorrington said.

He added that the company is venturing into a new initiative and that is the in-house goldsmith workshop, whereby a person can come choose a diamond, a design and have a ring made to order.

Mr Thorrington said the boutique at the Seychelles International Airport has been opened for 365 days a year for the past 10 years, which he described as a feat on its own.
