Seychelles Tourism Board invites tourism trade representatives to strategy meeting at Le Meridien Barbarons Hotel

 
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – On Friday,  representatives from the Seychelles Tourism Board led by CEO Sherin Naiken invited representatives from Seychelles’ tourism trade for a strategy meeting to agree on the future development of its brochures and other collateral materials in the light of the increasing competitiveness of the global tourism marketplace and the advance of technology.

 

Addressing the meeting, Minister for Tourism & Culture, Alain St.Ange emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Tourism Board and the private sector necessary for driving the sector forward.
 

“We must seize on such opportunities to put our heads together for the advancement of tourism in Seychelles and to compare notes and share our experience in this vital industry.”
 

Present at the meeting were the managers of Praslin’s Raffles Hotel, Mahé’s Kempinski Resort and Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove, which hosted the event, as well as senior management from 7 Degrees South, Creole Travel Services, Mason’s Travel and Select Seychelles; the chairman of the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association and senior staff from Air Seychelles.
 

The meeting covered a wide range of topics from the future format and composition of brochures and other collateral materials; the most effective use of e-marketing and social media platforms; the future use of carefully chosen bloggers to push the Seychelles brand; the feasibility of attracting top reality shows/celebrities to the islands; trade fair participation and a number of other issues associated with the marketing of the destination.
 

“Our industry is faced with several challenges and a meeting such as this one, which is the first of its kind, reflects how such challenges are best faced following consultation between tourism stakeholders.” Stated Sherin Naiken.

 

The strategy session also discussed ways to bring the key issues to the attention of heads of government and policy makers to ensure that they are addressed.
