La Reunion, the French Island of the Indian Ocean names former Miss Reunion & Popular Artist Marie Payet as their Master of Ceremony for the coming 2014 Seychelles Carnival of April
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – La Reunion Island, one of the main co-host for the April Carnival of Carnivals that is staged annually in the Seychelles has named Marie Payet as their Master of Ceremony for the coming 2014 Carnival International de Victoria.
As a main co-host, La Reunion will be playing a key part in all the main events of that unique carnival that continues to attract international press to these mid-ocean islands to cover the event that they have themselves dubbed the one and only Carnival of carnivals.
With International Press now getting ready for their trip to the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Region, the continued interest for the press in this carnival is because this event in the Seychelles, that is this year being jointly co-hosted by the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands of the Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar and Mayotte and also South Africa KwaZulu Natal remains the only carnival where all the best and most popular carnivals of the world parade together in an explosion of colour, costume and culture.
They are then followed by cultural troupes from the Community of Nations. This carnival is like a tourism trade fair for countries seriously promoting tourism as an economic industry because of the visibility participating delegations get as they fly their flag and as the showcase their country through their culture and people.
International Press have said over the last couple of years that countries at this carnival in Seychelles have a much better opportunity to showcase their unique selling points as a tourism destination because it is their people and that its is their culture appealing for press attention instead of colourful brochures and a drink at a promotional cocktail.
President Didier Robert, the President of the Regional Council of La Reunion has been working hard to reposition his island of La Reunion in the world of tourism as a destination at par with Mauritius, the Seychelles, Maldives and more.
President Robert said that he needed to break the dependence of Metropolitan France for tourists to La Reunion. Today his approach is seen to be working and he has shown that his administration had the tenacity to drive through a new tourism vision that is rattling some from France Metropole.
President Didier Robert overseas the portfolio for tourism and he has personally been working side by side with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture at different world forums and on different tourism bodies. Together they also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for continued cooperation between their two islands.
This renewed cooperation as co-hosts of the annual carnival of carnivals will see more in the development of the concept of Indian Ocean Islands working with each other to increase the visibility of the whole Indian Ocean Region where France administers La Reunion Island itself and also Mayotte.
Last week Seychelles named Michelle Marengo, singer and artist in her own right as the MC for the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 edition of the carnival who will be addressing in the island’s Creole Language. The announcement was made as the Seychelles was seeing final touches put together for the official opening ceremony of the carnival that takes place in Victoria, the Capital of the Seychelles on the 25th April.
