Prince Salman attended a presentation on "King Abdullah Project for Care of Cultural Heritage of the Kingdom"
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Chairman of King Abdul Aziz Dara,yesterday Thursday, 13th February, here in Riyadh, received at Al-Yamama Palace, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz President of SCTA and Board Member of King Abdul Aziz Dara.
The meeting was also attended by Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz the Advisor and Chief of Crown Prince’s Divan, in addition to the Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Mohiuddeen Khoja, also a Board Member of King Abdul Aziz Dara, and Dr. Nasir Al Jehani, Deputy Secretary of King Abdul Aziz Dara.
President of SCTA during the meeting delivered a presentation on the "King Abdullah Project for Care of Cultural Heritage of the Kingdom", which was recently approved by the Cabinet.
The presentation comes in line with the King’s recent approval to launch an introduction campaign on the national heritage under the patronage of Prince . The campaign will be carried out in conjunction with the project through a series of forums across the Kingdom.
At the outset of the meeting, Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz , stressed the importance of the project which is named after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, which reflects Custodian’s concern towards the heritage and history of the Kingdom, adding that, the project is considered as one of the key components of the identity of the Kingdom and an important factor for supporting the cultural activities.
Prince Salman called upon Saudi citizens to get closer to the history and heritage of the country and take advantage of the heritage and cultural programs and centers that are provided everywhere across the Kingdom.
For his part, HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, expressed deep thanks and gratitude to HRH Crown Prince for welcoming SCTA’s team to deliver a presentation to him on "King Abdullah Project for Care of Cultural Heritage of the Kingdom".
President of SCTA, during the meeting emphasized the importance of the project and described it as an important historical and national project and is expected to create a quantum leap in the programs and projects of the national heritage, which are witnessing remarkable attention and immense support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince.
"This project has special importance because it is named after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz during whose prosperous reign, the Kingdom has witnessed remarkable achievements in different area, especially the national heritage.
President of SCTA in this context referred to the successive resolutions made by the State for the interest of antiquities, heritage and support of heritage preservation and raising the awareness on its importance.
"State’s resolutions and attention in this respect have been crowned by the approval of this important project which will be added to the great achievements of the Custodian in the support of the national history and heritage,” Prince Sultan said.
President of SCTA further stated that, the launch of this project coincides with the State’s great efforts for raising people’s attention towards the importance of the national heritage.
“Today we work according to the mandates and directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince who consider the cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as one of the most important components of the national identity, and one of the bases upon which this country was founded.”
"Therefore, this project is based on two simultaneous tracks: Educational track and the introduction track which aim to raise the citizens’ awareness on the importance of their cultural heritage as well as link them to their history, because the more the citizens know about their country, the more they love it and be proud of it."
The presentation provided comprehensive information on the project which will last for 3 years and aims to raise the awareness of citizens on their history and Kingdom’s foundation epic, in addition to rehabilitate and operate State’s historical buildings and palaces of the reign of King Abdul Aziz, in collaboration with King Abdul Aziz Dara, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and other relevant public departments and the private sector.
The project also aims to preserve the antiquities and bring them out nationally and internationally and recover smuggled and illegally possessed antiquities from inside and outside the Kingdom.
It also aims to pay special attention to the sites of Islamic history, as well as rehabilitating and preparing archeological sites and historical routes and utilize them in the national development process, in addition to museums establishment and operation across the provinces and municipalities.
Development of heritage villages and city historic centers, popular souks in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and relevant public department in addition to the private sector, and preservation of the urban heritage buildings and development of handicrafts and traditional industries.
The project will be executed according to the systematic partnership adopted by SCTA since its inception. The key partners of the projects are King Abdul Aziz Dara, the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Guard, Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Culture and Information.
