Targeting a million visitors, Jeddah kicks off the largest shopping festival on Friday
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mesh al bin Majed bin Abdul Aziz, Mayor of Jeddah and Chairman of Jeddah Tourism Development Council, the Secretary General of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), on Friday, 10th Jan, inaugurated the events of Jeddah shopping festival "Haya Jeddah" (Come to Jeddah) in its third version under the slogan "have fun.. Shop and win".
Jeddah shopping festival is considered as the largest shopping festival in the Kingdom. The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of SCTA Makkah Branch, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Amri and Deputy Secretary General of JCCI, Hassan Ibrahim Dahlan in addition to a number of leaders of JCCI, and public officials, businessmen, sponsoring companies, investors, and people concerned of marketing and events sectors.
The opening ceremony took place in the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah municipality where shops are offering largest campaign for discount sales, gifts, presents, total of offers amounts may reach two million Saudi Riyals.
The Secretary General of JCCI, Adnan bin Hussain Mandora, in this respect said that, the festival is taking place from 10th Jan to 8th Feb, 2014, in which over 5000 shops from Jeddah municipality are taking part. The festival hopes to target over a million visitors, both Saudi and GCC families who look for fun and joy in the Bride of the Red Sea during the spring break. The festival aims to enhance Jeddah’s position on the tourism map nationally and internationally.
Mandora also stated that, the festival enjoys the patronage of HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Abdul Aziz Mayor of Jeddah, Chairman of Jeddah Tourism Development Council. The festival is organized by JCCI for the third year consecutively in collaboration with the Jeddah municipality, Jeddah Secretariat General, SCTA King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. The festival is consistent with the strategic goals which include development of tourism in Jeddah economically, culturally as well as for recreational purposes.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Red Sea Mall, Mohammad Alawi, has stated that, hosting the opening ceremony of the festival by the Red Sea Mall in its third version, is a good stimulant to Jeddah’s other malls to engage in this area and sponsor such a huge events on the Kingdom level, in which ten large commercial centers are taking part in addition to a large number of diverse types of shops which reflects increased awareness among the owners of commercial centers on their role towards their hometown, Jeddah.
"Jeddah city is considered as the most important city in tourism, entertainment, as well as business, as it is one of the oldest and important cities in the Kingdom in the past and in the present and of course in the future too," he added.
Participation of businessmen in "Haya Jeddah" festival is a great addition for the city in terms of the number of activities and events as well as the number of shops that are taking part in it, which reflects the increased awareness of shop owners on the importance of participating in such events.
The most important event in the festival is Jeddah Rally which will be held under the patronage of HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Majed bin Abdul Aziz Mayor of Jeddah and Chairman of Jeddah Tourism Development Council in addition to Jeddah Historic Area Festival which will be held at the Historic Area and will feature over 40 events besides the Tourism and Travel Festival which will be held within Jeddah Historic Area festival.
For his part, the Director of SCTA Makkah Branch, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Amri, in this context he commended the efforts of JCCI in the organization of the festival which will help boost tourism activity in the Jeddah city as Jeddah city is considered to be one of the most promising cities in the Kingdom for tourism in light of its natural, cultural and historic potentials.
Jeddah city is poised for quantum leaps in different areas especially the tourism area, which is considered as one of the most important attracting elements for its visitors, nationally and internationally. There are many festivals that distinguish the Bride of the Red Sea, such as Jeddah Gair, Haya Jeddah, and the like festivals that draw heavy turnout of visitors to it.
