SCTA President receives the delegation of the Smithsonian Institution
Almasalla Trvael News – By Ashraf El gedawy – His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, on Sunday, 3rd Nov, received in Jeddah city the members of the delegation of the Smithsonian Institution from the US, who are currently on a tour to a number of Saudi provinces.
During the meeting, HRH President of SCTA welcomed the delegation on the occasion of their visit to the Kingdom. The delegation was comprised of a number of members of the Board of Smithsonian Institution in addition to friends and employees of the Institution.
The meeting discussed prospects of cooperation between SCTA and the Smithsonian Institution in museum and research areas.
The tour schedule in Riyadh city of the delegation includes visiting a number of landmarks such as Al Daryia Historic Area, Wadi Hanifa, the National Museum, King Abdul Aziz Dara, Al Mismark Palace, Souk Al Zul and several other landmarks.
Also the delegation’s tour in the Kingdom includes visiting Al Ula municipality where they will visit Madain Saleh, Al Ula Museum and the Old Town. In Al Dhahran the delegation is scheduled to visit Aramco and the new cultural center of the city.
Noteworthy, the Arthur M Sackler Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, USA, had on last 15th November, 2013, hosted the Saudi exhibition "Saudi Archeological Masterpieces through the Ages" in its first stop in the United States of America for three months.
The Smithsonian Institution is one of the most prestigious complexes of museums and research centers in the world and it consists of several research centers and 19 museums.
