Kerala Tourism conducts 3-city roadshow in US this week to boost arrivals
Almasalla Travel News – With the aim of increasing the number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) to the state, Kerala Tourism is conducting three roadshows in major cities of the US this week. While the first and second roadshows were conducted in New York and Chicago on October 21 and 22, respectively, the third roadshow will be conducted tomorrow in Los Angeles, a release stated.
Preneet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, attended the roadshow in New York, which witnessed participation of 58 members from the US travel and tourism sector. The highlight of the event was a presentation on the top tourist attractions in the state by Suman Billa, Secretary, Kerala Tourism. A Mohiniyattam performance was also staged on the occasion, giving a peep into the deep-rooted traditions and culture of Kerala. Also present for the roadshow was Dnyaneshwar M Mulay, India’s Consul General in New York, besides eight industry representatives from Kerala.

Billa said, “Americans are one of the top global travellers, and therefore it is only logical that Kerala Tourism is making inroads into the vast market offered by the US.”
A P Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Government of Kerala, said, “The US is the fourth major market for Kerala Tourism after the UK, France and Germany. An increase in arrivals of visitors from the biggest economy in the world will be a significant factor for the growth of tourism in the state.” The Minister is leading the delegation of government and industry representatives from the state.
This is the first time that Kerala Tourism is organising roadshows in the US. Tourist arrivals to the state from the US went up to 57,807 in 2012 from 55,741 in 2011.
The industry participants from Kerala at the roadshows are the Kumarakom Lake Resort, RAXA Collective, Intersight Tours & Travels, Kerala.com Travel Division, The Travel Planners, Lotus DMC Pvt Ltd, Easy Tours of India, and Ayurveda Mana Properties.
Further, Air India Ltd is sponsoring free Economy Class round trip tickets to the winners of lucky draws at each venue of the roadshows. Winners will get a free ten-day holiday to Kerala, the release added.
