USA Budget Shut Down has ripple effects across the world – Cancellation of Daniel Pearl World Music Days 2013 in Seychelles for their Creole Festiva

Almasalla Travel News – By Ashraf El gedawy –  The association of the USA in the Creole Festival in Victoria  the Creole Capital of the World in the Seychelles may seem far fetched. But the lively Creole Culture is as real for Louisiana and New Orleans of the USA as it is for the mid-ocean island of the Seychelles where an annual Creole Festival is staged to bring together the World of Creoles.

For the 2013 edition of the Creole Festival a musical band from New Orleans was to travel to the Seychelles as part of the Daniel Pearl Music Days 2013, but a formal US Embassy Diplomatic note confirmed that the existing financial situation with the US Government is ongoing and therefore all programmes such the Daniel Pearl have been cancelled.

The USA has this direct Creole link with islands in the Caribbean and in the Indian Ocean because of Louisiana and New Orleans. With a heavy participation of proud Creole islands descending on Seychelles for this 28th Edition of the annual Creole Festival, it is sad that the unique USA Creole will not be part of the festival’s official opening act on the 25th October in the presence of the Seychelles President, the Mauritius Vice President and La Reunion’s President of the Regional Council and also their President of the island’s General Council.
