InterContinental Buenos Aires impresses with outstanding CSR

Almasalla Travel News – Ashraf El gedawy – Green Globe announces the certification of InterContinental Buenos Aires in Argentina. This global award provides independent verification of the hotel s sustainable practices, all of which have been implemented as part of IHG’s Green Engage™ program. In line with the IHG brand promise, the InterContinental Buenos Aires has demonstrated outstanding corporate responsibility for years.

“We understand that it is important to have an active role in protecting our environment,” said Marcos Alonso, Green Team Leader at the InterContinental Buenos Aires. “Our Environmental Management System not only monitors energy, water and waste consumption, but also provides recommended actions – ‘green solutions’ – to improve energy conservation and our carbon footprint score. It is our mission to tackle environmental and social challenges, creating a truly sustainable business and a better tomorrow for generations to come. I am very proud about my highly-ambitious team and our wonderful achievement with Green Globe.”

The InterContinental Buenos Aires is actively involved with the local community and works with a number of charitable programs. Projects, such as refurbishing the church monastery San Juan Bautista, the oldest monastery in the city, are of great importance to the hotel. Every month, the hotel invites local school children for educational seminars on the how to protect our resources. The hotel supplies homes for socially-disadvantaged children with school utensils, back packs, toys and food. For observation of Kids Day, on August 3, the hotel team likes to visit children’s hospitals to deliver toys, bed sheets, and towels for the kids.

All charitable endeavors increase awareness and comply with the IHG approach to make a positive difference to the community. It is part of the business strategy to ensure that donations have the biggest possible impact to create more sustainable communities and better lives.

The IHG Green Engage program supports hotels in their effort to become “green” through reducing energy, water and waste consumption. Over 2,300 IHG hotels are enrolled in the program. IHG has worked with Green Globe to develop a streamlined certification process for IHG Green Engage™ hotels seeking third-party recognition.
