African Community Association of Seychelles stages their own event for the 2016 FetAfrik to mark Africa Day
aTP- Arab tourism portal- People hailing from various African countries who are living in Seychelles as well as locals had the chance to enjoy various dishes from across the continent.
This was during a gala dinner organised by the newly formed African Community Association of Seychelles at Espace building last weekend.
The event, a first of its kind to be organised by the association, formed part of activities which had been on the FetAfrik programme for this year.
Gracing the event with their presence were the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, principal secretary for culture Benjamine Rose and former Minister Peter Sinon.
Speaking at the event, Minister St.Ange said congratulated members of the African Community Association of Seychelles headed by Marie-Aline Adesoyede.
He thanked them for uniting together to promote the African culture and to keep our origins and historical links with the continent alive.
Minister St.Ange reassured the members of the association of his ministry’s commitment and support towards their future plans.
He was later presented with a token of appreciation from Mrs Adesoyede.
During the evening, those present enjoyed cultural performances given by the Nigerian drummers and dancers who were taking part in this year’s FetAfrik.
Mrs Adesoyede said the members of the association are very happy with the turnout for the gala dinner.
She added that the association will keep organising activities throughout the year to keep the cultures from the continent alive in Seychelles.
The number of people who turned out for this event was above our expectation and this shows that the people of Seychelles do value our links with the continent, she added.
