Proflight Zambia celebrates first international flight

Almasalla Travel News – Champagne celebrations marked the launch of Proflight Zambia’s first international scheduled air service yesterday (June 4) from Lusaka to Lilongwe.

VIP passengers included the Malawi High Commissioner to Zambia HE David Bandawe, the Deputy Director of the Zambian Department of Civil Aviation Harrison Banda, Zambia Tourism Board Marketing Director Mato Shimbale, National Airports Corporation Board Member Lazarous Chota, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director of Communications Lubinda Sakanga, who joined Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs Capt. Philip Lemba in a mid-air toast to the airline’s new route.

“This is a truly historic day for Proflight and for the Zambian aviation industry. We are delighted that our two nations are now linked with a direct flight by one of our own airlines, and we look forward to providing a reliable, efficient, and friendly service to all our passengers,” said Capt. Lemba.

Flights to the Malawian capital depart from Lusaka at 1530 and arrive in Lilongwe at 1710. The return flights leave Lilongwe on the same days at 1755, arriving back in Lusaka at 1935. The timing is designed to provide smooth connections to and from the Emirates flights from Lusaka to Dubai, which arrive in Lusaka from Dubai at 1425 and depart from Lusaka for Dubai at 2125 daily.

Return fares from Lusaka to Lilongwe start from around KR2,000 and will operate initially with Proflight’s 29-seater Jetstream 41 aircraft.
