Spirit of UBUNTU comes alive at Africa Day’s FetAfrik Celebrations in Seychelles

 

 

 

 

 

aTP-  Arab tourism portal- Africa Day in Seychelles is celebrated through the island’s annual FetAfrik. Every year now the Department of Culture in Seychelles invites key personalities from Africa and entertainers to bring the diverse cultures of the mainland of Africa closer to the People of Seychelles.

 

 

This year Professor Sayers from the Channel Islands was invited to conduct workshops on her "Spirit of Ubuntu". Her much appreciate speeches was discovered by Peter Sinon when he was the Seychelles High Commissioner of the Seychelles in South Africa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also present at this year’s FetAfrik are Professor Samba from Senegal who will be conduction a lecture on African Renaissance and Wesley Peppers, the popular Street Artist from South Africa who will be working with local artists to create a mural in Victoria’s main Bus Terminal.

 


Performing Artists have also flown in from Nigeria and Uganda.

 


At the workshops on the "Spirit of Ubuntu" many of the local organisations sent representatives to hear Professor Sayers and participate with her in her very interactive workshop approach.

 


Local Organisations at the "Spirit of Ubuntu" workshops included the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), the Community Development, the Ministry of Education, the Youth Health group, the Seychelles Institute of Art & Design (SIAD), the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC), the Tourism Department, the Seychelles Heritage Foundation(SHF), the Health & Safety Seychelles Police, the Seychelles Institution for Teaching Education (SITE), the National Institution for Health & Social Services (NIHSS), the School for "A" level studies  (SALS), the Seychelles Institution for Teachers Education (SITE), the Air Force, the Youth Department, the Seychelles Agriculture Agency (SAA), the Seychelles Police, the Drugs & Alcohol Council (DAC), the National Council for the Disable (NCFD), the Seychelles Coastguard, the Seychelles Business studies Academy (SBSA), the Brahma Kumadis, representatives of the International Delegations at FetAfrik and the Seychelles Trading Company (STC)

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture accompanied by Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture made a stop at the workshop of the "Spirit of Ubuntu" and met with Professor Sayers. "We watched for a while the delegations present at the workshop how they were interacting. The former National Assembly Hall was full and it was really a pleasing moment to see how engrossed the workshop participants were at this Spirit of Ubuntu workshop" Minister St.Ange said
