SCTH President chairs the seventh meeting of Bari

 

 

 

 

aTP-  Arab tourism portal-  Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTH, Head of Supervising Committee of the National Handicraft Program “Bari”, on last Sunday 15 May 2016, chaired the seventh meeting of Bari at the headquarters of SCTH in Riyadh.

 


Prince Sultan bin Salman, at the beginning of the meeting appreciated the efforts made by the Bari in the past period, stressing the importance of continuing to develop the handicrafts sector as reliable developmental projects the Kingdom counts heavily for employment and local development, while preserving important the cultural element and component as basis of national identity.

 


The president of SCTH during the meeting said that the program in this phase focusses on supporting the investment programs and projects related to handicraft and traditional industries and entering manufacturing phase to establish incubators for artisans to produce high quality products in large quantities capable of widely being marketed.

 

Sultan expressed appreciation to a number of companies and hotels that have signed agreements with Bari in an effort to support handicraft’s marketing and investment activities of handicrafts programs.

 

SCTH has begun organizing the national tourism industry and not just the national tourism sector, and then followed the organization of national cultural heritage, which implies many correlations with the tourism throughout the world. SCTH has organized these sectors in preparation for releasing them for self-management throughout the provinces by its partners after being confirmed of maturity.

 


 
“Examples are many, including the investment in tourist destinations on the Red Sea and on the beaches that SCTH requested the State to shift the authority to Public Investment Fund (PIF) to launch them. Accordingly SCTH founded the Tourism Investment and Development Company which await the formation of its Board of Directors in order to be the spearhead in the development of tourist destinations,” added HRH President of SCTH.

 

Sultan said, “Today we have taken a decision in the Committee that there will be no extension of the supervision on this new sector beyond the 5 years fixed period, as the program has passed all the stages, including the project management route, which is carried out by SCTH. We expect Bari program next year to set off with different content and under different management."

 

The meeting discussed a number of issues related to Bari’s activities and programs and reviewed a report on its performance and a report on the agreement it has entered into cooperation with “Turathna Company” for Social Responsibility of the heritage, with the most important term “offering advisory services and support handicraft projects) and briefed on the establishment of the handicraft company.
