aTP-  Arab tourism portal- NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) has been selected by Orange Egypt, to provide iPASOLINK EX, NEC’s outdoor, integrated, ultra-compact microwave radio system supporting 70-80 GHz band communications (E-Band). This innovative all-outdoor radio is scheduled to go live with an initial group of 60 links.

iPASOLINK EX is an advanced IP radio used for backhauling LTE traffic in the E-Band spectrum, and covers the frequency bands of 71–76GHz and 81–86 GHz. It provides an invaluable tool for 4G (LTE and WiMAX) deployments and LTE small cell aggregation, and is capable of delivering over 3.2Gbps of traffic per link.

“By using NEC’s iPASOLINK EX, we will be able to provide a different experience for our users over the LTE network, with faster access and higher reliability,” said Hisham Siblini, Chief Technology Officer, Orange Egypt. “On top of that, our telecom network in coastal areas is regularly exposed to salt damage but we are confident that the specialist solution from NEC will resolve those issues.”

“NEC’s iPASOLINK EX is heralding a new era in LTE backhaul technology, and we are delighted that Orange Egypt will be deploying the system in Egypt,” said Hassan Abou Khatwa – NEC Cairo General Manager. ”We will continue supporting Orange Egypt and their commitment to delivering a superior mobile-broadband experience to their subscribers.”

NEC has as accomplished history of providing highly reliable wireless transmission radio systems that operate without fail. NEC’s PASOLINK series features a wide variety of advanced wireless technologies cultivated under challenging environmental conditions.

NEC Corporation also recently launched the new iPASOLINK EX, an ultra-compact radio communication system that achieves wireless transmission capacity of 10Gbps and featured it during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The order was won due to strong collaboration amongst many NEC colleagues, with particular contributions from Sherif Ahmed (Telecommunications Business Development Manager), Tamer Ali (Operation Manager), Ahmed Hawary (System Design Engineer) and Mohamed Said (NMS Engineer), Sercan OZCAN (Technical Account Manager for Egypt).
