Computer glitch at Oman Air leads to flight delays, cancellations

aTP-  Arab tourism portal- Oman Air has cancelled seven flights this week due to what it called a technical failure in its air transport communications and information technology system.  Among the flights cancelled from May 2 to 7 are those heading to Jaipur, Dar es Salaam, Bahrain and Goa. Dar es Salaam itself has had three cancellations.

According to Oman Air’s tweets, the technical glitch began on April 30, resulting in the delay of 39 flights that day, with some having knock-on effects. Delay times ranged from seven minutes to 200 minutes. "Oman Air regrets the flight delays on 30th of April. This was caused due to a disruption in the SITA link that failed twice during the day,” the airline stated.

Oman Air defined SITA as the air transport telecommunications and information technology provider used by airlines for check-in and various other functions. The airline urged passengers to check flight updates on its website.
