aTP- Arab tourism portal News- As small as they are, the mid-ocean islands of the Seychelles continue to be heard and noticed. The classic example of tenacity by the island’s minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister now responsible for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine was at the Minister’s Summit at WTM Tourism Trade Fair in London on the presence of Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the UNWTO.
As soon as Becky Anderson of CNN opened the floor to Ministers who were not in fact on the panel it was the Seychelles Minister who was seen making his point. To the admiration of many, he started off as always with "Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism" before taking time to defend the UNWTO (United Nation World Tourism Organisation) on their communication strategy as he suggested that the Organisation could now consider to none the extra mile and be the one to write to countries imposing a Travel Advisory to confirm that the situation on the ground of member states are back to normal as these advisories can take ages to be removed nowadays. The Seychelles Minister was responding to an earlier attack that nothing was being done by the UN body on communication.
Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles that appealed to his Tourism Minister colleagues to say the security in tourism means Tourism Minister being seen to be good facilitators for their respective private sectors. "We need to defend our industry by being proactive and today we need more than ever before to be meeting with ICAO and the IMO to pan out together a way forward that will help consolidate our tourism industry" the Seychelles Minister said before confirming to the gathered press outside the conference that he intends to propose holding such a tripartite meeting in Seychelles.
