French explorer crossing the deserts of Oman

The French explorer, Gauthier Toulemonde, had started his individual journey through Oman’s

aTP- Arab tourism portal News- The French explorer, Gauthier Toulemonde, had started his individual journey through Oman’s deserts starting from Wilayat Adam, Al Dakhiliya governorate, where he will cross-desert The Empty Quarter and Al Sharqiya Sands.

Toulemonde’s journey will be covered through his social media accounts; he will also send post cards and letters through the mail to his friends around the world to share his experience in Oman.

Gauthier was born in 1959, he studied business and economics, has an extended experience in banking, became the CEO of a press company called Timbropresse, and is currently a member of the Society of French explorers.

For a long time, Gauthier has been interested in documenting his travels in the form of digital films, using the new communication methods.

Among the countries that he has visited were Indonesia, Singapore, China, Namibia, and others. This time, Gauthier had chosen Oman to be his next adventurous experience.

“I was in Oman 2 years ago with my family, and we have visited Muscat, Bidiya, and Al Sharqiya Sands, where the idea of desert-crossing had sparkled in my mind, and here I am today.” Gauthier said.

Kicking off from Wilayat Adam

The French explorer will start his journey from Adam crossing the Empty Quarter on a camel, heading to Abu Tubool in the depth of the desert with the company of Ahmed Bin Hareb Al Mahrooqi, the Omani traveler.

Having reached the area, Ahmed is to leave Gauthier who will stay alone experiencing the desert life with his dog.

The second part of Gauthier’s journey is heading to Bidiya on his camel to desert-cross Al Sharqiya Sands, where he will head to the coast of the Arabian Sea, the sandy beaches overlooking the Indian Ocean, and Ras Ruwais area.

As an answer to why he had chosen Oman and the purpose of the journey, Gauthier said: “It had all started when I first visited Al Shaqiya Sands 2 years ago, and I was inspired by the natural Omani landscapes where I found peace of mind.

I am looking forward to sharing my unusual experience and get people to live it with me.”

“My aim is to show the connection between human beings and nature, how we can live isolated in the wild, facing different kinds of challenges and learn to live peacefully with nature while communicating with the world through social media channels at the same time using the solar or green power.” He added.

The desert vibes through social media
Many organizations are supporting the French explorer in his adventure such as the Ministry of Tourism, External Representation Office of the Ministry of Tourism in Paris.

Gauthier’s journey in Oman has the perk of promoting adventures and desert-crossing tourism in the Sultanate, documenting a full experience for the audience to witness through his social media channels.

A press conference will be held after Gauthier successfully finishes his adventure to highlight the details of what he is seen and been through.

He will produce a promotional film as well documenting his adventures directed by Amir Khattab of Huts Company.

Not only that, Gauthier will send 600 postcards stamped by Omani stamps carrying pictures of His Majesty and Oman’s tourism attractions to send them to his friends.

As Gauthier is the Editor in Chief of the international stamps magazine Timbres, he will share with the readers these stamps as a souvenir.
