Indian budget airline BANS children under the age of 12 from certain areas of the plane
aTP- Arab tourism portal News- IndiGo’s decision to create an adult-only space in the premium areas of its planes has been rejoiced by some and slammed by others, with some calling the policy ‘disgusting’.Indeed, one disgruntled customer told the Hindustan Times: ‘The policy is discriminatory.
‘It means that you cannot ask for more leg space while traveling with your children.’Another added: ‘It’s clear that they do not want children to disturb fliers paying extra for these [premium] seats.’However, other travelers have applauded the idea.
One commenter, based in New Zealand, wrote: ‘Absolutely brilliant – can’t we have child free flights? They will be a sell-out every time.’There is nothing that ruins any flight more than the dreaded family unit entering the cabin.
‘Another flyer said he recently flew back from Tokyo on AirAsia and they also offered a child free zone for around £23 ($30) extra.Recalling the experience, he wrote: ‘Just brilliant. cabin was mostly empty so had much room to spread out. Very quiet and would buy again.
‘IndiGo said it introduced a quiet zone with business travellers in mind.A statement issued by the airline reads: ‘Keeping in mind the comfort and convenience of all passengers – row numbers one to four and 11 to 14 are generally kept as a “Quiet Zone” on IndiGo flights.’These zones have been created for business travellers who prefer to use the quiet time to do their work.
