aTP-  Arab tourism portal-The South African Minister for Tourism, Derek Hanekom on Tuesday praised the Seychelles for being a tourism model in Africa and he showed his appreciation for how the destination is helping to advance Africa.

Minister Hanekom was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Meetings Africa exhibition currently being held in Johannesburg. The opening was attended by several tourism leaders in the Mice and Incentive Business including the Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange and the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Naiken.

The call by Minister Hanekom for ‘Advance Africa Together’ is one which is very close to Minister St Ange’s heart as he seizes all occasion either at trade fairs or tourism forums, to call on Africa to work with Africa.

"We were honoured to have been singled out at the official opening ceremony of this big Meetings Africa Exhibition. When Minister Hanekom spoke about Seychelles we not only appreciate it but it reinforced the approach we have taken for the last couple of years to work in unity and in partnership with our friends and neighbours.

The tag line of No Island can be an Island onto itself is so true and both CEO Sherin Naiken and myself said after the official opening ceremony of Meetings Africa that we do have a friend in South Africa" said Minister St.Ange
