Bangkok – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) unveiled its new ‘Open to the New Shades’ campaign on the inaugural day of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2018, today.

TAT’s presence at the event aims to increase the number of first-time and repeat visitors from the Middle East visiting Thailand. This year 50 Thai hotels, tour operators, medical service institutes and tourism related agencies from the private sector attended the 25th edition of ATM, the leading global event for the Middle East travel industry.

The new campaign by TAT showcases the diversity of Thailand and its many unique and undiscovered offerings for travellers. It comprises of five pillars: shades of Thai gastronomy, shades of nature and beach, shades of arts and crafts, shades of culture and shades of way of life.

Thailand is one of the leading destinations for visitors from the UAE, with many of those being repeat visitors. The UAE ranks amongst the top three countries in the Middle East with the highest number of visitors to Thailand.

Mrs. Srisuda Wanapinyosak, Deputy Governor of International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas), TAT, said: “The Middle East is a key market for us and we are incredibly excited to launch our new campaign, “Open to the New Shades”, at ATM 2018.

Thailand offers something unique and exciting for every type of visitor from across the region. With an array of clear water and white sand beaches for those looking to relax, to world-class wellness retreats for those looking to re-charge, to some of the most stunning temples and cultural sights in the world. Not to mention, the vast array of food from a Michelin star street food vendor to upscale Thai restaurants and an array of other cuisines.

Thailand also offers travellers a vast number of accommodation options with everything from 5-star family-friendly hotels with halal options to boutique hostels for solo travellers.

“Last year 616,168 Middle East tourists visited Thailand, up 5% from the previous year and 8% in terms of revenue growth. With the newly launched campaign of “Open to the New Shades” and our 50 strategic Thai Private sectors participating in ATM 2018, we trust that it will increase awareness of Thailand as a destination amongst Middle East travellers and we hope they will join us in discovering some of the less discovered parts of the country.”
