Alain Saint-Ange, a senior tourism consultant from Seychelles, will join the introductory sessions for the fifth African Tourism Day and the Second African Tourism Climate Action Forum (ATCAF) 2024, hosted by the Sayari Dunia Foundation for Sustainable Tourism at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on November 6.
Under the theme “Repositioning Women for the Next Frontier of Sustainable Tourism and Climate Action”, these sessions aim to unite global stakeholders to address Africa’s tourism sector in the context of climate change, with a focus on women’s leadership and inclusion. The forum will highlight critical issues and opportunities for women’s empowerment in the sustainable tourism and climate action sectors, in line with Africa’s vision for a greener future.
ATCAF 2024 will include a comprehensive conference focusing on sustainable tourism and climate action, featuring the recognition of 150 women across Africa who have significantly contributed to climate initiatives and tourism. The event seeks to enhance women’s inclusion and leadership in sustainable development, with nominations from each of Africa’s 55 countries. Attendees will participate in workshops covering sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, tourism, and more.
Alain St.Ange previously served as Seychelles’ Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine and is actively involved in tourism consultancy across Africa and the ASEAN region. He was also a candidate for Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and ran for President of Seychelles in the 2020 elections.
