ALL ABOARD! ANANTARA SIR BANI YAS ISLAND EMBRACES CRUISE SHIP BUSINESS
A new tourism guest is to set discover UAE’s treasured Sir Bani Yas Island.
aTP- Arab tourism portal- Abu Dhabi,– In mid-November Anantara Resorts on Sir Bani Yas Island, just off the western coast of Abu Dhabi, welcomed its first two maiden calls by international luxury cruise liners ‘Island Sky’ and ‘Seabourn Sojourn’ with guests taking advantage of the ship to shore excursions provided by Anantara to experience the wonder and adventure of the island.
“We are delighted that Sir Bani Yas Island will feature on the international itinerary for many cruise liners in the coming year, introducing a new customer to the destination.” said Mr Christian Gerart, General Manager, Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts.
“We are thankful to Abu Dhabi Ports for their efforts as the master developer, operator and manager of ports in Abu Dhabi for making this possible along with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and the master developer of the island, Tourism Development & Investment Company.”
“While cruise business does not mean an increase in guests staying overnight, it certainly gives us an opportunity to shower them with our Anantara service and offer insights into the history of the island and the local culture, through the wide variety of activities we offer and ensure that each guest returns to their cruise ship with lasting memories.” he added.
Anantara is currently the sole operator on the island providing a world of adventure for visitors. Wildlife drives, culture and heritage tours, horse riding, assorted watersports, kayaking, mountain biking and many other activities are available, as well as Anantara’s signature Spice Spoons cooking classes for those cruise guests who want to learn a new skill and recreate the flavours of Arabia when they return home.
In December, Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open which further enhances the infrastructure available to visiting cruise liners and makes including the UAE capital in itineraries possible.
