Tourism in Seychelles reaches new heights as October 2015 is recorded as a boom month for Seychelles

ATP-  Arab tourism portal- Tourism in Seychelles has become a success as never seen before. According to statistics, the month of October 2015 has become another record month for Seychelles tourism with a total number of 27,477 tourists landing on our shores which shows an increase of 18% over October 2014.

The record number, which is positioning Seychelles to break yet again the year record for the number of tourist arrivals, is a vindication of the country’s tourism strategy of diversifying its source markets into the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Far East while at the same time continuing to nurture its core, traditional markets in Europe.

Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board and her Team are responsible to market Seychelles and ensure that the islands continue to be visible and in so doing remain visible as a tourism destination. The Seychelles Tourism Board’s policy, linked with Seychelles’ aggressive pursuit of enhanced air connectivity to the islands, is paying handsome dividends as figures indicate a strong revival in the European segment with France the market leader so far in 2015 with just over 31,000 visitors followed by Germany with 30,000, Italy with just under 19,000 and the UK and Eire with 14,000 visitors so far in 2015.

At the same time, Seychelles’ newer markets are showing strength in numbers in the form of  the UAE and China with 17,124 and nearly 13,000 for the year to date.

October has shown itself to be a stand-out month in what promises to be another record year for Seychelles’ tourism with  92% of October arrivals being holiday makers,  spending an average of 8.9 nights. October is also the month when the islands celebrate its Seychelles-India Day and also its Festival Kreol. Both events continue to attract visitors and press to Seychelles.

At WTM (World Travel Market) in London earlier in November Seychelles was declared the Tourism Destination of the Year and Alain St.Ange, the island’s Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said as he accepted this latest accolade for Seychelles that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. “If we are delivering for the island’s tourism industry, and if the world is today saying that we are the best, it must be because our Tourism Board’s hard work is paying off” said Minister St.Ange
