The traditional Kamtole Dancing Competition was an event not to be missed at this year s Seychelles Festival Kreol
ATP- Arab tourism portal- The popular traditional dances of Seychelles came alive at the ICCS Conference Centre in Victoria as Dance Partners competed for the top place in Kamtole Dancing.
It was with grace and a lot of dancing skills that the competitors performed a series of the Seychelles traditional dances in an even described as not to be missed.
It was Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture who had the honour to address the event and launch the competition.
Minister St.Ange who was being accompanied by Benjamin Rose, his PS for Culture said as he took to the podium that he needed to congratulate everyone who were working to keep our traditional dances alive. Minister St.Ange used the opportunity to thank Marietta Labonte, the Head of the National Cultural Troupe for personally overseeing this cultural event.
"Tonight as I congratulate every dance team for participating, I must say you are true Ambassadors of the Seychellois Culture.
To get to know our traditional dances is important and the more our younger generation learns the steps and moves of our dances the more we shall all be sure that our culture and tradition in safe hands" said Minister St.Ange.
The competition started off as the National Cultural Troupe Band playing live tunes that got everyone tapping their feet and clapping away.
The dance couples danced to perfection to the admiration of all present and when the jury came out with their veridic at the end of the competition it was the Team from Air Seychelles who cam out as Winners followed by the Team from Barclays Bank and in third place the Team from the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC).
This competition was a true winner and everyone present had but praise for the performances and for the traditional music played.
