Seychelles honours two Praslin musicians in its Musicians Wall of Fame





ATP-  Arab tourism portal-Two veterans in the music industry of Seychelles coming from the island of Praslin have been honoured in the musicians Wall of Fame just before the launch of the second Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta.



Joseph Louise and Jean Ally, two of Seychelles’ well-known artists, had their names added to the Seychelles’ Musicians Wall of Fame at the House of Culture in the National Cultural Centre of Victoria.


Present at this auspicious occasion were the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, principal secretary for culture Benjamine Rose, chief executive of the National Arts Council Jimmy Savy, musicians and members of the Seychelles Musicians Association.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Apart from unveiling their stars, the artists were also presented with their certificate of recognition.



Speaking at the event, Minister St.Ange said it is vital for the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to recognise those who have done well in helping to push our culture forward.


" This Wall of Fame is something that we hold on to dearly. If we have good music to listen to, it is because we have gifted individuals who can produce music," the Minister said.
Minister St.Ange added that we cannot take this for granted and these people deserve to be honoured and recognised for their contribution in the field of music.


During the ceremony, another of Seychelles’ top musicians and well known comedian Joseph Sinon was also honoured with his star.


Minister St.Ange said Mr Sinon have made his mark in the music industry.


He added that this musician has been able rally many other artists together and as a team they are promoting pur music and culture across the country.



He has been able to keep our culture and Creole music alive, and give an added touch to our moutia, Minister St.Ange added.



Since October has been dedicated as the Creole month, it is fitting therefore to recognise a musician who has been devoted in promoting the Creole music.
