Special mass marks the beginning of Tourism Week in Seychelles
ATP- Arab tourism portal-A special mass was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception this afternoon to give thanks to the many successes of the Seychelles’ tourism industry.
The mass was the first event to mark the start of beginning of this year’s Tourism Week celebrated from September 23-27.
Attending the mass was the principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken and the deputy chief executive Nathalie Didon, representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Academy and a large congregation.
Preaching after the readings, Father David Alcindor said tourism is a vital industry and commended all who are working to make this industry a strong one.
Father Alcindor said God gave us beautiful islands and it is our duty as a nation to protect them as they are important assets for our tourism industry.
He thanked the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, Miss Naiken and their team for the work they are doing in leading our tourism industry forward.
“Working in the tourism sector is not easy as it requires a lot of sacrifices. So I salute all those who have worked and are working to make this industry a successful one,” he added.
He called on the youths who are pursuing their studies at the Seychelles Tourism Academy to work hard and urged them not to give up even if they encounter challenges along the way.
On her part, Miss Naiken thanked all those working in the tourism industry for making time to give thanks for our industry’s blessings.
“If today we have a good industry, and we are an example to the rest of the world, it is because God has been here all along to guide us and today we thank our Father Almighty for that,” she added.
