ATP-  Arab tourism portal-The Seychelles Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St.Ange has reaffirmed Seychelles’ commitment that the country will be a strong member to defend and promote the concept of East3Route publicly at any forum.

Minister St.Ange said this while addressing a high-level meeting held as part of the East3Route investment seminar which was held in Seychelles for the first time.

The East3ROUTE aims to promote and accelerate cross-border economic activity and especially tourism, in its four member countries, namely KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Mozambique, Seychelles and Swaziland.

Attending the meeting held at the Espace building were the Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade of Swaziland Gideon Dlamini, Minister Investment, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation Michael Benstrong, member of the executive council for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs KwaZulu-Natal, Michael Mabuyakhulu, and other high officials from all four countries.

Minister St.Ange said the East3Route will now expand its doors to incorporate ministers of economic developments of the countries, will sit with the tourism ministers of the four member countries and together become an assembly.

“To be able to deliver for our countries, we will need to bring culture into the framework of tourism marketing. We have all adopted this strategy that we need to put people at the centre of our development, but when we put them in the centre of our tourism development, we are putting culture in the centre of our development,” he said.

Minister St.Ange added that there can be no culture without our people.

He said the four countries will nominate an event of their respective countries which will now be staged in collaboration with the East3Route programme.

“It will help Seychelles to get its culture groups, artists to be in Kwazulu-Natal, Swaziland and Mozambique to perform alongside the best ones, and the same will apply for all the three countries,” he said.
