Gulf Air wins three IT development awards
ATP- Arab tourism portal- Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has won three regionally acclaimed awards for its IT infrastructure and development.
The airline’s efficient implementation of Mobile Device Management for Electronic Flight Bags -that was recently rolled out across its fleet and pilots- saw Gulf Air win the Network Middle East Innovation award for “Wireless Implementation of the Year”.
Its security framework for the Hybrid Cloud architecture saw the national carrier also receive the “Best Cloud Security Implementation” Award for 2015 at the Gulf Information Security Exhibition and Conference (GISEC).Most recently, Gulf Air won the Best “Virtualization Project” Award at the Network World Middle East Awards – CNME – for its continuous efforts to qualify IT in innovative ways to deliver competitive advantage and enhance business value.

The airline was the first organisations in Bahrain to introduce Cloud Computing in its IT operations, enabling faster and more efficient business performance with resulting enhanced customer service.
Gulf Air also recently rolled out Electronic Flight Bags across the airline’s fleet and pilots, thereby moving from a paper-based flight manual to an electronic process that offers advanced information management and delivers more accurate aircraft performance calculations.
This helped to save significant time and cost while increasing safety and streamlining the management of flight information.
