ATP- Arab tourism portal- Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said that the Best Indian Ocean Tourism Award and the Best Cruise Destination of the Indian Ocean Award are achieved when a country’s government becomes good custodians of their pristine environment as they place their culture at the centre of their development. "We care for our environment and today we have over 50% of our total land area totally protected as national parks. To have culture we need to have people and by placing our culture at the centre of our tourism development we are in fact placing our people at the centre of our country’s development" Minister St.Ange went on to say.
When he told delegates at the last World Travel Awards that he did not need to dwell on the nice sandy beaches of Seychelles and about the turquoise blue seas because this everyone who travels or are involved in the tourism industry know that Seychelles continues to be ranked amongst the best for a sun, sea and sand holiday because Seychelles has been able to care about its environment through a sustainable tourism development agenda.
