Seychelles and Zambia sign cultural agreement and two memorandums of understanding in arts and culture
ATP- arab tourism portal- Seychelles and Zambia have signed a cultural agreement and two Memorandums of Understanding. The cultural agreement was signed between Esther Banda, the Zambian Deputy Minister for Tourism and Arts and Alain.St Ange the Minister for Tourism and Culture.
Minister Banda said the Zambian government values the existing cordial relationship between the two sister republic.‘’ My government would like to utilize the experiences that we shall gain from there for tourism development. Such events play an important role in tourism development and consequently, employment and wealth creation among our people’’.
Minister Banda said the culture agreement and the two Memorandums of Understanding commit Seychelles and Zambia to work together more closely and attain common goals in the fields of arts and culture.
‘’ Each side will pursue many significiant activities such as the promotion of performing arts, visual arts, culinary arts and many other arts and cultural disciplines for the preservation of our heritage and promotion of cultural industry sector which is key to employment and wealth creation for our two people,’’ Minister Banda added Minister St.Ange echoed the importance of honouring signed agreements. He said an accord should not remain a sign document but the terms and conditions are also honoured.
‘’ The Ministry of Tourism and Culture understands the importance of acting on terms and conditions set in a signed Memorandums of Understanding. Signatures does not make up a Memorandums of Understanding. It is the people’s actions that make the Memorandums of Understanding worked’’ Minister St.Ange has re-asssured the people of Zambia that Seychelles friendship is sincere.
‘’ If today we are extending our hands to you, it is because we are sincere in what we do and in what we say. We only do this to countries, we believe we can get a win win situation.’’
Concluded Minister The two Memorandums of Understanding covered two institutions, the National Arts Council and the Seychelles Tourism Academy. It was Flavien Joubert, the principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy who signed the Memorandum of Understanding for exchanges of students and teachers between his institution and Hotel Tourism training institution HTTI in Luka.
The Hotel Tourism Training Institution HTTI was represented during the signing by Dr Wilson Silangwe in his capacity as Principal , chief officer of the institution. Jimmy Savy, the chief executive of National Arts Council and Adrian Chipindi from Zambia National Arts Council signed the other Memorandums of Understanding in the art sector.
Both tourism institutions and the National Arts Council will see the agreements translated in actions in June and May. A cultural delegation from Zambia is expected in Seychelles for FetAfrik 2015, and teachers and lecturers from HTTI Hotel Tourism Training Institution will arrived in Seychelles in June for exchanges.
