Seychelles welcomes first Dreamliner aircraft on its soil

 

 

ATP-  arab tourism portal- A first ever Dreamliner aircraft, landed at the Seychelles International Airport on February 27, a historical event for both the tourism and aviation sectors of our country.

The Boeing 787-8 belonging to Ethiopian Airlines landed with a total of 133 passengers on board. Present to welcome those on board were the chief executive of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority Gilbert Faure and its chairman Captain David Savy, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s director of marketing Rose-Marie Hoareau, the Ethiopian Airlines area manager in Seychelles Meseret Tekalign and representatives of Mason’s Travel.

 

 

 

 

All those present had the chance to go on board so that they can have a look at the facilities before the Dreamliner departed.

Speaking during a short ceremony after the aircraft had landed, Mr Faure said many agencies have been involved in making this historical event happen.

 

 

 

 

 

He said the Ethiopian Airlines has brought a very good product to our islands, adding that the increase in the tourist arrivals gives hope that more Dreamliners will land at our airport.

Mr Faure added that it is an honour for Seychelles to welcome and witness the arrival of such aircraft to its shores.

 

 

 

 

 

“The Ethiopian Airlines is an African carrier which is making significant progress on the continent, going the extra mile to ensure that tourists are able to travel to the region in more comfortable and technologically advanced aircrafts,” he said.

Mrs Tekalign said the Dreamliner is a testimony that Ethiopian Airlines is one of the biggest in Africa, adding that the promotional flight will let the world know that the airline is back in Seychelles and is taking this vital destination seriously.

On her part, Mrs Rose-Marie said the arrival of this aircraft in Seychelles is a milestone event. She added that the Ethiopian Airlines is a much valued partner of our country.

Mrs Hoareau said it gives visitors to our islands a new choice and chance to travel to paradise.

After the speeches, a special cake was cut to mark this auspicious and historical occasion.

The Dreamliner which has a seating capacity for 278 passengers, left Seychelles on the same day with over 200 travellers on board.
