FITUR tourism trade fair shows positive for Seychelles Spanish tourism market in 2015
Almasalla, ATP News-The largest tourism trade fair for Spain took place again this year from the 28th to the 30th of January this year in the heart of its capital Madrid where also sits the headquarter of the world tourism body UNWTO.
Seychelles was represented at FITUR 2015 by the Minister for tourism and culture Alain St.Ange, the CEO for Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, Director for Europe Bernadette Willemin and Monica Gonzalez Llinas Marketing Executive in Madrid.
This year the Seychelles had a 24 Square meter stand to showcase the destination together with the mason’s travel outbound tour operator from Seychelles. The show was yet another success for Seychelles as the interest from the Spanish tour operators and agents were quite encouraging and significantly higher than last year. To note Spain for the first time since the crisis has experience in 2014 positive economic growth and signs are showing that outbound tourism travel will grow and therefore the good possibility for Seychelles to grow back its share of Spanish Visitors. Spain remains a very important secondary market for Seychelles as despite it not producing huge numbers, it is still known to be a market which produces good yield.
The chief executive officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Sherin Naiken explained "we are happy that despite the crisis we maintained our presence on the market even if very minimal activities were being done. We will slowly start seeing the fruit of that. Having kept the relationship with our trade partners in Spain has ensured that they continue to sell the destinations."
