Almasalla, ATP News- The Seychelles Tourism Academy staff, lecturers and trade partners are putting their thinking caps on to brainstorm on a second Strategic Plan which will spearhead the vision of the Academy for the coming five years.

The new strategic plan for the year 2015 up to 2019 is being drafted in a three day workshop where strategies defined in the first Strategic Plan 2011- 2014 will be reviewed and new goals set.

Seychelles Tourism Academy has mapped out its new goals and visions for the coming five years, of which, will be incorporated within the strategic plan 2015-2019. With the professional touch of William Zarine, Seychelles Tourism Academy consultant, the new strategic plan 2015-2019 is hoping to maintain the same status quo as the first Strategic Plan. Having attained 95% of its targets set in the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan, Seychelles Tourism Academy proudly claimed its new Strategic Plan will continue to develop and enhance targets set out in its previous plan.

Declaring open the three day workshop to map out its Strategic Plan 2015-2019, Flavien Joubert, Principal of Seychelles Tourism Academy, set one personal core target. He said Management and Lecturers ‘Responsibility will become his battleground.

‘’ Every team member, has a job and I urge each and every one of you to understand the word – JOB as a duty and a commitment as a lecturer or a Manager rather than as  a list of administrative requirements that one fulfils for a set number of hours in exchange for a salary paid by tax payers contributions’’. Said Flavien Joubert

During the three day workshop, sessions will be dedicated for consultant and staff to meet with students of the Academy and get a glimpse of how they see themselves in the Academy.
Mr Joubert said student’s contribution is pivotal for mapping out the strategic plan 2015-2019.

‘’ The hotel School is run by Tax payers money, the budget that we use, some of the funds are paid by Seychellois population, your parents, your families and very soon you will be contributing because you will be paying taxes as well. Your tax money will be paying us as the Management, lecturers and support team. Therefore guide us on how best you can help to make use of your tax money and tell us based on your experience as a student, how to improve in any areas which you feel we should improve’’

Mr Joubert also announced that the Strategic Plan 2015-2019 will be his last Strategic Plan with Seychelles Tourism Academy. He said in preparation for the Academy to move to its next step of becoming an Academy of excellence in the region and to run the Academy as a fully-fledged business to repay its financial commitments, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture will soon announce his successor and a Vice Principal.

The new Strategic Plan 2015-2019 will be completed in December 2014 to be submitted to the cabinet.
