Seychelles Tourism Minister meets Swedish tourists involved in road accident last Saturday afternoon in Beau Vallon
Almasalla, ATP News- Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture on Sunday afternoon visited Ebbe Alfredson and Elizabeth Sparring at Seychelles Hospital after hearing from a small Beau Vallon property owner that these Swedish visitors has been involved in a road accident at Beau Vallon.
Minister St.Ange said that he felt it was his duty as Tourism Minister to visit the two tourist who were sadly hit by a truck last Saturday afternoon after they had been on a tour of Victoria Market and of our Botanical Gardens. Ebbe Alfredson and Elizabeth Sparring had been holidaying in Seychelles for the last two and a half weeks spending time in small Seychellois owned hotels in Mahe, Praslin and La Digue before being involved in the road accident that landed Elizabeth Sparring in hospital with serious injuries and Ebbe Alfredson with injuries on his arm.
"It is of course sad to see tourists visiting us landing in hospital with serious injuries resulting from road accidents or from any other unfortunate incidents. We depend on tourism as the industry that is today holding the economy of our country. We all need to be conscious that the tourism industry is very fragile and the lively hood of so many Seychellois depends on a successful tourism industry. The road accident last Saturday afternoon will result in the tourists going home early and in the small Seychellois owned hotel loosing days that they had already been pre-booked at their hotel" said Minister St.Ange.
"Above all these visitors who said they had enjoyed their holidays in Mahe, Praslin and La Digue now will leave Seychelles probably in an air ambulance. This is a sad end to their holidays" the Seychelles Minister said as he ended his statement.
Road Accidents are becoming too frequent and some of these accidents are resulting in loss of life. It is time for drivers to be more conscious when sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle because it is too easy to have an accident that causes unfair injuries and even loss of life on innocent bystanders.
