Creole"Laserenad" in Seychelles remains an affair of the young and old
 

Almasalla, ATP News-Seychelles prides itself as the custodian of the Creole heritage. There s no other way, to showcase these island s culture and tradition, than staging the Creole "Laserenad" which features on the annual Festival Kreol Calendar of Events right in the heart of Victoria. The scene was set at around 16h30 on Saturday afternoon, for a spectacular ‘sights and sounds’ of the Creole culture and tradition as 21 platoons marched their way under the applause of spectators aligned on State House and Independence Avenues in Victoria, the Capital of the World of Creoles.

The 29th Edition of the Festival, is no other, than the ideal platform for Seychelles to take stock of its past successes and challenges, and to see what the future holds for this festival that continues to bring together the Creole People from all over the World. Such was demonstrated as the first platoon of senior citizens under theme of "an era" danced their way in Victoria, opening up the streets for other platoons, such as those from Cascade, Pointe Larue and Bel Ombre Districts to parade to the Clock Tower right in the centre in Victoria.

This year, the crowd converging on to Victoria to watch Creole Laserenad were taken into a voyage of discovery in under the Sea, traditional costumes and traditional dances.  As it is often said, young people are custodians of a country’s heritage and elders are the pillars of the culture of the country.  
 

The Creole Laserenad really does justice to these two generations. It goes wider than just doing justice, but it lays the basis for reflection, on what the future holds for this Kreol Festival. ‘’ En Lizye lo lepase, En Lizye lo lavenir’’ a theme once chosen during the 90’s for Festival Kreol which resurfaced in 2014 in the Creole Laserenad, as senior citizens with their platoon "an area" danced their way into Victoria, paving the way for young citizens to close the serenade in a spectacle of colour in tune to the traditional dance around the island’s clock tower.
 

A perfect closing ceremony, showing two generations taking pride in their culture. The 29th edition of Festival Kreol Creole Serenade is all about an affair of protecting what is truly Seychellois tradition.
