Seychelles former Supreme Court building to be restored to original state
 

Almasalla,Gate Arab Tourism News-Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles is well worth exploring, and it is through its historical buildings that you can best glimpse through the prism of time.
 

On Francis Rachel Street, next to Clock Tower, Victoria’s iconic landmark remains the former Supreme Court building and it plays the lead role in the list of the island’s many historic attractions and landmarks.
 

At the look of it, the former Supreme Court building has hardly changed since the days it was built for New Oriental Bank.

 

 

 

 

 

Despite extensive renovations over the years, the building maintained many of its original features such as the wrought-iron spiral staircase.
 

Today, this iconic building is to be restored to its original state to house the National History Museum of Seychelles.
 

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture accompanied by Benjamine Rose, the Principal Secretary for Culture met with Glenny Savy representing the Building Contractor appointed for renovating the building, Ferdinand Berlouis, the project’s architect as well as Yves Choppy, the Principal Secretary for Land Use and Habitat, for a final visit at the site before giving approval of the plan to start renovating the building.

“We’re trying to bring back the original feeling of Victoria. This building will be renovated to its original state,” said Minister St.Ange.Minister St.Ange said the former Supreme Court will be turned into a National History Museum with a commercial angle.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 He explained that the existing car park will be converted into a pedestrian avenue with façades of old buildings of Seychelles that has been lost over the years.

 

“Seychelles needs a down-town square where people can sit and appreciate the feeling of Victoria. The former Supreme Court is a prime historical property in Victoria and there is no better place to create the feeling of old Victoria.” Minister St.Ange said
