Seychelles Artists heading to Mauritius Festival 6-8 Sega Typik et Maloya

 

 

 

 

 

aTP-  Arab tourism portal News – On the Move is how the emancipation of culture in the Seychelles is being described. It was only last week that the Patrick Victor Cultural Foundation was launched and this week Patrick Victor, the Patron of the Foundation will himself be leading a delegation of artists to Mauritius alongside Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to participate in the Festival 6-8 Sega Typik et Maloya.

 

The group of Seychellois Artists this morning received their airline tickets at ESPACE Building Offices of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in the presence of Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, PS Benjamine Rose and Jimmy Savy, the CEO of the National Arts Council (NAC).

 

Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture will be traveling with the delegation as the Official Delegate and Patrick Victor, the Patron of the Patrick Victor Cultural Foundation is Head of the Delegation comprising of Jean Marc Volcy, Brian Matombe, Norville Ernesta, Elvis Seraphine, Chanel Kilindo and Jeanette Zialor. In Mauritius Patrick Victor and Jean Marc Volcy will also be taking part in a workshop on Moutya, Malaya and Sega Typik.

 


Patrick Victor said this morning that this music genre is unique to the Indian Ocean and that it was important for Seychellois Artists to be present at such festivals to fly the island’s flag high. The Organisation in Mauritius is taking care of the accommodation and meals for the Seychellois Artists and the National Arts Council and the Department of Culture are facilitating with the transport arrangements to Mauritius.

 

Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture this morning called on Seychellois Artists to work together to continue to raise the level of music in Seychelles. "You will be proud of what we are achieving when you know that what we are producing in at par with standards and the acceptable norms. As the Ministry responsible for Culture we shall continue to work with serious artists who make Seychelles proud.

 

 

Our music stadium is now taking shape and this every one passing English River can see. This great facility will further help to enhance the development of music in our country" said Minister St.Ange as he handed over airline tickets to the seven artists traveling to Mauritius this week.
