In the presence of Prince Sultan bin Salman, Prince Mesh al bin Abdullah opens the Historic Jeddah Festiva
Almasalla Arab Travel Portal News – His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, said that the adoption by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of the “King Abdullah Project for the Cultural Heritage of the Kingdom” which was approved by the Cabinet last Monday, 13th Jan, under the Custodian’s name, is considered as a declaration of a new historic phase in which a full picture of the national heritage will be created in order to be a part of the people’s daily lives and inspiring the blessed national unification in which our fathers and grandfathers have heavily taken part.
HRH President of SCTA, was making a press statement following the opening ceremony of Jeddah Historic Area Festival which was held last Thursday, 16th Jan, under the patronage of HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Makkah and Chairman of Makkah Tourism Development Council.
SCTA President in his statement praised the great attention paid to the festival and all the activities and programs related to Jeddah Historic Area by HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, former Governor of Makkah, Head of the Supreme Committee of Jeddah Historic Area Development.
Prince Sultan also commended the great efforts made by HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Majed, the Jeddah Mayor and Head of Festival Organizing Committee, besides his follow up of all the Jeddah Historical Area’s programs and projects.
HRH President of SCTA in his statement also praised the keenness of HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Makkah, for patronizing the Jeddah Historic Area Festival since his first days in the office as the Governor of Makkah province which reflects his keenness to continue developmental process as well as launching the next phase of achievements in this area.
HRH President of SCTA on the other hand extended his special appreciation to the Jeddah Secretary General and his staff who worked very hard in the project of development of Jeddah Historic Area and in the organization of its heritage festival.
HRH President of SCTA added that, Jeddah Historic Area Festival is paving the way for a prospective developmental phase in the Historic Jeddah, emphasizing State’s concern and care for the national heritage, and a witness to Sate’s recognition of Jeddah municipality’s history and contributions of its people in the building of the country.
"Jeddah and its people are in the hearts of the leaders of the Kingdom. Celebrating and recognizing the Jeddah history is considered as a gesture of gratitude by the State to such an important historic site. Today, as we appreciate to Custodian’s attention to Makkah province I am proud of my friend Prince Mesh’al bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for being the Governor of Makkah who had similar great efforts in Najran which is a dear province to our hearts too, and he is qualified and capable to take responsibility of such an important and large province, as the Makkah province. In fact we are very pleased this night of the launch of Jeddah Historic Area Festival which is seeing a quantum leap, and I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and HRH Crown Prince Chairman of King Abdul Aziz Dara (may Allah protect them) for the great attention they pay to the national heritage and the Jeddah Historic Area.
HRH President of SCTA in this context referred to the great efforts that had been made by Prince Majed bin Abdul Aziz and Prince Abdul Majed bin Abdul Aziz in the preservation and development of Jeddah Historic Area.
HRH President of SCTA also referred to the great transformation witnessed by Jeddah Historic Area in the reign of Prince Khalid Al Faisal who laid the basis of this leading national project in addition to the great efforts made by Prince Mesh’al bin Majed and his persistent support and follow up of the development of Jeddah Historic Area.
HRH also stated that, SCTA had submitted integrated project to the Council of Ministers about the Historic Area, and set up integrated plan adopted by Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Head of the Supreme Committee of Jeddah Historic Area.
HRH President of SCTA in his statement commended the initiatives of Jeddah Secretariat General and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry which were announced by the Jeddah Secretary General and Sheikh Saleh Kamil. Adding that, these initiatives in addition to the expected vote on the Historic Jeddah’s file for registration in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, aside from the great efforts that are taking place in the Historic Area, are making all of us very optimistic, that in this year we will be able to pick the fruits of our efforts.
"Jeddah Historic Area is part of the National Heritage Project of this great country which was a meeting point of world civilizations. Our present country is based on great civilizations dating back to thousands of years ago, so we are proudly adhering to this heritage and we are working on a set of museums, which are about 20, besides preparing and rehabilitating over 40 State palaces in order to be transformed into museums also. I would like to say it frankly, it was impossible to reach this stage without God’s will, and Custodian’s support and wise directives regarding to be careful and balanced when raising the issues of heritage preservation and taking into account the Sharia laws when dealing with such sensitive issues, and also to work with others, including the religious scholars, heritage buildings owners, and residents of heritage areas. We will present these projects as a gift to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and we vow to keep on implementation of such important projects and achievements. Also we will present them to HRH Crown Prince, my teacher in heritage school, who with great interest is following up this important project and he has asked me to convey his greetings to the people of Jeddah," added HRH.
For his part, HRH Prince Mesh’al bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Makkah, expressed his pleasure for attending and participating in the opening ceremony of Jeddah Historic Area Festival. And expressed his thanks to HRH President of SCTA for the great efforts he makes every day in the preservation of the national heritage throughout the Kingdom.
HRH Governor of Makkah also praised the efforts of Prince Mesh’al bin Majed, Jeddah Mayor in the organization and success of the festival.
Jeddah Historic Area Mayor speech was delivered on behalf of him by Abdul Samad Mohammad Mahmoud Abdul Samad, who started by welcoming HRH President of SCTA, and HRH Makkah Governor, and the Jeddah Secretary General.
In his speech, Jeddah Mayor also referred to the historic aspects of Jeddah and its monuments, the neighborhoods (Haras), adding that, “the event is recognizing the past and celebrating the present”.
