aTP-  Arab tourism portal- Local artist Michael Adams is perhaps best known for the vibrantly coloured, phantasmagorical paintings of his adopted islands which have earned him a longstanding international reputation.

Now, a book of sketches of island personalities he commenced in 1971 has been published by Mark Inch of BLUEBIRD INVESTISSEMENTS and was presented to the public at a private launch at La Plaine St. Andre, Mahé on Wednesday 20th April.

The new book, which appear sunder the title of Island Souls, and was designed by Iranian graphics designer Golnar Roshan, contains 232 pages of sketches the painter has made of a wide range of island personalities since his arrival in the islands during the early 70s.

Local author Glynn Burridge provided the foreword to the prestigious book whose appeal isexpected to resonate on the local market but also abroad, particularly among the Seychellois diaspora.

Each sketch is accompanied by comments by Michael Adams on who the subject is and the traits of character that makes them so special. These comments appear in his own distinctive handwriting as a wonderful addition to the pages which are preceeded by a short biography of the painter’s colourful life, again in shorthand.

Alain St. Ange, Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism & Culture, addressed the gathering, commenting on what a fine contribution Island Souls makes to the Seychelles literary scene and on the importance of such work.
