Cairo International Film Festival Kicks off on November 15
aTP- Arab tourism portal News- The 38th edition of Cairo International Film Festival will kick off on 15 November at the Cairo Opera House in downtown Cairo, and will run for ten days. The festival had announced that great playwright William Shakespeare will be its "special guest," with screenings of local and international films either inspired by the playwright’s dramaturgy or that are cinematic adaptations of his plays. British film Florence Foster Jenkins, starring American Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep and British actor Hugh Grant will make its MENA premiere during the festival.
This year’s screenings will also include eight Oscar-nominated films including Egypt’s submission for the foreign language category, Clash. The seven other films are from Germany, Hungary, Canada, Slovakia, Philippines, Nepal, and Saudi Arabia. The screenings will take place at the Cairo Opera House, as well as downtown Cairo’s Odeaon Cinema and Cinema Karim.
For the first time, this year’s edition will introduce an app for phones and tablets that will offer the schedule of events, information about featured films, screening times, and booking.
International actors who have been awarded by the festival include Christopher Lee, Morgan Freeman, Salma Hayek, Richard Gere, Charlize Theron, Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren.
