Seychelles and China engage in talks to boost cooperation in tourism


 

 

 

 

 


aTP-  Arab tourism portal- The chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken along with the Seychelles resident ambassador in China Vivianne Fock-Tave led a delegation to Beijing and paid a visit to Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development (BMCTD) to discuss on further cooperation which can exist between the two parties.

 


 
The delegation was welcomed at the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development by its chairperson Cao Pengcheng.

 


 
Addressing the delegation in a meeting, Mr Cao said after the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Seychelles Tourism Board in 2009, the cooperation of between the two sides enhanced and Seychelles is now one of the most selected destinations for Beijing citizens.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


He also congratulated to Victoria for being a founder member of the World Tourism Cities Federation.
 

 


Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development has also expressed the willingness to help promote the Seychelles Tourism Board in Beijing.

 


 
Ambassador Fock-Tave hailed the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development for its successes in the tourism sector, adding that what has been paved in 2009, witnessed by President James Michel has been working very well and the exchange of Beijing Union University with Seychelles Tourism Academy last year is a great example.

 


 
She added that the direct flight from Beijing will be a milestone and historical moment for us to look at future cooperation.

 


 
Miss Naiken thanked Mr Cao and his team for the warm welcome. She said the time is fitting to relook at the memorandum of understanding signed six years ago.

 


 
“Back in 2009, we did not have an office, but now we have three offices already in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and after five years of promotion, China is now among the top six leading markets of Seychelles,” she said.

 


 
Miss Naiken said Seychelles is also a more diverse destination with the best beaches in the world, its flora and fauna, a unique culture as well as all kinds of wonderful world-class of diving, sailing, fishing and island hoping activities.
“Apart from the existing cooperation we can also work together in the events we organise annually such as the Seychelles Eco-friendly Marathon, Carnaval International de Victoria, Seychelles Ocean Festival, Seychelles-China Day celebrations among others.”

 


 
Mr Cao welcomed the proposals of Miss Naiken, adding that the commission will take them into account and invited the Seychelles Tourism Board to take part in Beijing International Tourism Expo which will be held from June 18 to 21, which is part of the World Tourism Industry Conference to take place in Beijing.

 


 
Seychelles has also been invited to take part in the China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings which is a professional MICE fair to be held during the month of September in Beijing.
