Qatar Airways Doubles Down On Private Jets

ATP-  Arab tourism portal-  Qatar Airways has been in the news quite a bit recently.  It was the launch customer of the Airbus A350.  It rolled out its new home, a state-of-the-art airport in Doha to better connect its ever growing global network.

It announced plans to increase flights to North America, including a second daily flight to New York.  And then of course, its candid CEO Akbar Al Baker has been at the forefront of the battle between the ME3 vs. US3, whereby American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines accuse Etihad Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways of receiving billions in illegal government-funded subsidies to fund their expansion and high levels of service.

On the flip side, the ME3 accuse the U.S. airlines of also receiving subsidies, claiming the charges are incorrect, and using the conflict to cover-up the poor service they give their customers.

The latest announcement was that subsidiary Qatar Executive, an operator of private jets, is now expanding into aircraft management.  According to a press release, “The service Qatar Executive provides aircraft owners with is tailored to each individual’s requirements, but generally includes taking care of the entire flight operation, trip planning, and the allocation of highly experienced pilots and flight attendants, right up to the organization of catering and all ground arrangements including fueling, hangar parking and cleaning of the aircraft in Doha and worldwide.

”Al Baker, who also heads up the airline’s business jet division, said, in the release, “Our private jet division is an integral part of the Qatar Airways group and has developed into a world-class corporate aviation operation since its start in 2009.

Apart from our successful charter business, we are now extremely pleased to be able to offer aircraft management services to our elite clientele and are seeing substantial market potential for this attractive new business aviation product.”
